Last weekend, SNL kicked off its 38th season. The show has had its peaks and valleys over the years, but as the "Fox & Friends Morning Show" parody below shows, Lorne Michaels and company still deliver the goods when it comes to political satire.

Happy Birthday Will Ferrell - More Cowbell, Please

Comedic actor Will Ferrell turned 45 today, and we're celebrating his birthday with one of my favorite SNL moments. Ferrell is his usual shameless best, and Christopher Walken is a treat too. Enjoy.

SNL - Will Ferrell's George W. Bush Visits Biden

Will Ferrell returned to Saturday Night Live to guest host last weekend. In the show's hilarious opening skit, Ferrell reprised his role as President Bush in order to console and commiserate with an adolescent-acting Vice President Biden.

I particularly enjoyed when Bush draws a distinction between "smarty pants" types like Obama, and "speak first" guys like Bush and Biden.

"They're all brains. You and me, we're all gut and balls."

SNL's Backstage With Gotye Parody

Since I raved about Gotye's music yesterday, including his hit single "Somebody That I Used To Know," I had to share this awesome digital short "parody" from last night's SNL. 

Gotye did a nice job with his cameo appearance, playing "straight man" to obsessed fans Andy Samberg and Taran Killam.

SNL's Hunger Games with Sophia Vergara

There wasn't a lot of great comedy to pick from this week on SNL, but you can't go wrong when you combine Modern Family's Sophia Vergara, the Hunger Games, and my creepy-good favorite, Bill Hader.

SNL's Bronx Beat Skit with Maya Rudolph

Saturday Night Live always manages to break out their very best material whenever they have a former cast member at the helm, and this past week's show, with Maya Rudolph as guest host, is a terrific case-in-point.

Rudolph was perfect in her dry and stuffy portrayal of Maya Angelou hosting her own Punk'd-style prank show, and she was equally hilarious as pop star and new mother Beyonce', introducing newborn Blue Ivy to a bizarre cast of fellow pop stars. You can see both of those clips here, if you like.

The reprisal of the "Bronx Beat" segment managed to best all other skits. With Rudolph's sister SNL alum Amy Poehler and another very special guest, "Bronx Beat" was the hands down high point of the show. Enjoy!

SNL's Bein' Quirky with Zooey

Zooey Deschanel hosted SNL last night. In "Bein' Quirky With Zooey," Michael Cera and Mary Kate Olsen are good, but Bjork steals the show.

"I made a sweater for an octopus. Plus I left one extra hole for its dreams and ideas."

SNL's Weekend Update - Daniel Radcliffe as Casey Anthony's Dog

Having starred in Equus and How to Succeed in Business on Broadway, Harry Potter's Daniel Radcliffe is now prepared to take on his most demanding role yet - Casey Anthony's adopted yorkshire terrier.

SNL's Arlene and Jim Skit w/ Melissa McCarthy

I ran across a link to the best SNL clips of 2011, and I came across this complete gem from October.

Thanks to guest host Melissa McCarthy's shameless 110% commitment to the Arlene character (and to the awesome Bill Hader) this is one of the funniest SNL skits I've seen in recent years.
 

Muppets Steal Jason Segel's SNL Monologue

SNL monologues are hit or miss, but you can't go wrong when you mix sweetly funny Jason Segel with some of your favorite Muppets and a clever piano ditty. It's also particularly enjoyable to see the Muppets perform when they are in an "adult" venue like Saturday Night Live, where they can push their humor a little further toward the grown-up end of the spectrum.

SNL's Someone Like You Skit

Emma Stone hosted Saturday Night Live this past weekend, and the office weeping over Adele's hit "Someone Like You" was hilarious and far away the bright spot of the show. Enjoy the video!

Rick Perry on SNL's Weekend Update

It's another big winner for Bill Hader.

This time he delivers a drunk Rick Perry performance on SNL's weekly news segment (the consistent high point of the show these days).

(It's worth waiting out the Hulu ad. Sorry.)

SNL's "What's Wrong With Tanya? " Skit

You can't count on Saturday Night Live to be consistently funny any more, but every now and then the show still delivers.

SNL usually does well with game show parodies, and last night's Lifetime Network Game Show was a respectable effort.

Bill Hader is disturbing and hilarious as usual.
