Daily Zen - Thursday, December 6

Meditation is looking directly at who we are and
not assuming anything—about our thoughts,
our emotions, or our situation. In this way,
Buddhist practice is very similar to the scientific
method—as soon as we make an assumption
about something we can get stuck there.

Daily Zen - Thursday, February 8

Mindfulness practice is non-sectarian. There's no
belief system attached to it, there are no articles
of faith. You're just learning to pay attention.

Think of it as a kind of gym class for the mind,
developing basic strength, focus, and stability.

Daily Zen - Thursday, January 26

We cannot avoid conflict. Like good music,
life expresses itself through conflict and resolution.

Weekend Zen, May 21-22

Our society has a tremendous engine for creating
dissatisfaction, desire, and craving. Happiness is going
to be this, it's going to be that, but it's never going to
be just enjoying yourself where you are and as you are.

For most of us, cultivating simplicity and
contentment might take some real effort.
