Don Cornelius, creator and host of Soul Train, has died at age 75 of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Even a suburban white boy from northern Florida remembers those Soul Train Saturday mornings - the legendary musical guests, the plaid bell bottoms, the incredi-fros, the smoove dance steps of the Soul Train "line," and of course the deep rich voice of Don Cornelius.
