Daily Zen - Friday, March 23
When you realize that nothing,
no "thing," ever has the power
to make you permanently happy,
you receive a deeper invitation.
Nothing can make you happy–
and that is the reason for joy.

Weekend Zen, June 3-4
This moment is not life waiting to happen,
goals waiting to be achieved, words waiting to be spoken,
connections waiting to be made, regrets waiting
to evaporate, aliveness waiting to be felt,
enlightenment waiting to be gained. No.
Nothing is waiting. This is it. This moment is life.

Weekend Zen, October 1-2
Your sadness, your fear, your loneliness, even your despair
is so fragile, friend. It can break open at any moment.
A single note in a piece of music can do it. A kind glance
from a stranger. The feeling of the spring breeze
on your face. A reflection of a bird in flight.
In any moment, your sorrow can shatter
into nothingness; it has no more reality than that,
no more substance than a shadow.
